Bartholin's gland incision

Diagnostic & Treatment
Bartholin's gland incision

Incision is a surgical procedure used to treat inflammation of Bartholin's gland. The extent of the surgical intervention itself varies from the severity of the inflammation itself.

If it is a small-scale inflammation, a small incision through which the contents of the Bartholin's gland is drained (clears the inflammation of the Bartholin's gland) is sufficient.

However, if a cyst has formed, it can be treated with a small drain (similar to a tube) through which antibiotic solutions are inserted, or it can be completely removed surgically.

The recommendation in that case is to perform marsupialization of the Bartholin's gland when its function is preserved.

It is possible that after the incisional procedure inflammation occurs again and that is the reason to remove the entire gland.

The incision is performed under general or local anesthesia or analgesia.

Depending on the procedure, you will stay in the office from 30 minutes to 1-2 hours.
