Conization

Conization is a procedure by which the tissue of the cervical canal is taken for the purpose of diagnosis and possible treatment. This procedure can be done with a scalpel or a LOOP excision. This procedure is applied mainly after the biopsy findings indicated the possibility of the development of a premalignant change on the cervix.
There are two possible goals of this procedure. The first is diagnostic, i.e. precise determination of the cause of changes in the tissue. The second goal is treatment that completely removes the change on the cervix.
If the results of the analysis of the change show that it is a malignant change, a further treatment procedure is decided in consultation, which may include surgery, drug therapy and radiation.
Conization is done under general anesthesia, minor changes can be removed with the LOOP method. He stays half a day in the doctor's office.
