This disease is currently one of the most well-known sexually transmitted diseases. It is caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). There are no specific symptoms related to this disease, the most common are malaise, fevers, colds, flu, and swollen lymph glands. This virus can be in the body for many years and not be detected. It is possible to diagnose HIV only with a blood test. To date, no cure has been found for this disease, although there are therapies that slow down the progression of the disease.
